VCT 4 Trivia

Although this was the 4th Edition of VCT, there has been a Magic with the number '3' throughout the tournament! Let us first see the final Clan scores of VCT 4 after the completion of all 6 Gameweeks. (henceforth Gameweek will be mentioned as 'GW' in this blog)

As you can see, the most prominent figure in the final score is 3
The only other digit on the scoreboard is 9, which is = 3 * 3!

To decide the Champion Clan, there were 3 Tie Breaker matches, played between 3 players from each Clan belonging to 3 Tiers each!

The final Champion - Clan Zugzwang is the only team with 3 draw matches. Rest of the 3 clans had once draw match each.

Bored? We have not started yet! Let us see some more magic of  '3' in VCT 4!

The magical influence of '3' in VCT 4 !

  2. Bikash (Bikashsherpa) against Matcho (hopelessindian)
  3. Shouvik (Shouvik86) against Jongs (shayon62)

  • After GW 6 completion, only 3 players had 10 points each, all 3 of them were from 3 different Tiers! (See below for the only player to cross them on points.)

  • 3 days after Gameweek 3, 3 Clans (Fork, En Passant and Zugzwang) were on same points - 21!
  • Women power -
We all saw the extreme women power in VCT 3. This time around the stats is not that mind blowing, however, guess what! The numbers went up to '3' female players in VCT 4 -Komal (komalkulkarni23) and Eshita (shootingstar4joined our usual suspect Nandita (nandy111)And we still look forward to have more female players in the future editions of VCT.
  • 3rd Fastest match (by Time) in overall VCT was in VCT 4!

  • There were 3 new VCT records we experienced in VCT 4 matches

  1. Anustup (anustupsikdar) vs Komal (komalkulkarni23) match had the quickest resignation in all editions of VCT, as Komal (playing in black) resigned after 5 moves.
    • Unfortunately, the previous quickest resignation is not recorded, but definitely there has not been an instance as fast as the above match.
  2. Earliest match in the day ever played in VCT was played in VCT 4, at 8:00 IST on 25th April, 2021, between Souvik (Nitrozz) ad Shouvik (shouvik86) in GW 5.

  3. VCT 4 is the first edition of VCT, where all the players (24) won at least 1 match.
    • Chasu (soumya_jit) in VCT 1, Nandita, Jongs, Dzl, Arkadip in VCT 2, and Akash, Anustup and Sayantan in VCT 3 did not win any match in those respective tournaments.

Clan Stats:

Clan Zugzwang - is the only clan where no player crossed 10 points, however they still went on to become the champion. Shauvik (Secretbook) from this clan is the only player to beat an Auctioned Tier 1 player. The clan name was probably the toughest of all and unknown to most of us. We will see some more details on that in VCT Gallery.

Clan Gambit - is the only Clan which had two players with 10 points after all Gameweeks. Probably considered as the most extreme Clan, Clan Gambit had both the highest rated player Sandy (buhu_s) and the lowest rated player Eshita (shootingstar4) of VCT 4!

Clan Fork - is the only Clan which acquired the highest number of wins (5) in a single Gameweek against Clan Gambit in GW 3. Also Clan Fork has the player winning the 'People's choice' award. Please check the section below.

Clan En Passant - has the highest average accuracy out of all the 4 clans (70.02). Also the 'En Passant' move option reached twice in VCT 4 tournament matches, and that too in their own matches. It happened in both the matches between Sayantan and Anustup, (one in tie breaker). And both times, the En Passant was declined by Sayantan!

Oops, the digit '3' popped up again!

Note:  In Tie -breaker matches,

Fun facts on Accuracy Please note, accuracy will be only be used for trivia and fun facts in VCT, and no real competitive decisions will be taken based on accuracy. Accuracies for players in VCT 2 group Stage and the Finals of VCT 1, 2, 3 were not recorded. However, as per memory of VCT committee, they do not contradict the below figures.

4 records were done on VCT 4 in terms of accuracy -

  • Sudipta (sudiptadebnath2020) and jongs (shayon62) are the only two players who had accuracy repeated in their 6 VCT 4 matches. -
    • Sudipta - 99.4 in GW 3 and GW 5,

ROI - Return on InvestmentThis is a new parameter introduced for Clash of Clans comparing the auctioned price of player and the total points fetched by him/her. We cannot give a ranking here but some honorable mentions -

Dzl (mirmadan) was auctioned at base 10 points, but he fetched 8 points for Clan Zugzwang and also was the chosen as the best player of his Clan.

Reevu (theantmind) was auctioned at 20 points, and he became not only the best player for Clan En Passant, but also the only Tier 3 player to get to 10 points.

Sayantan (sayantanduttagupta) was auctioned at 15 points, and he fetched 9 points for Clan En Passant, and was also, the only En Passant player to win a match in the final Tie Breaker.

Arkadip (Rkdpgupta) was a total revelation in VCT 4. He was auctioned at 22 points, and he won the best player of Clan Gambit, by fetching 10 points.

Irfan (irfan_raza6) , to everyone's astonishment was auctioned at base 30 points. None the less, he proved his worth in the actual games of the tournament and won the best player of Clan Fork.

To wrap it up, let's see the a few more things about Irfan (irfan_raza6), who has also been awarded as the "People's choice award" of VCT 4.
  • Irfan is the only player to remain unbeaten with 5 wins and 1 draw in 6 matches of VCT 4.
  • Irfan, from Clan Fork, not only finished with the highest points - 11, but also with the highest average accuracy - 93.86!
  • Irfan is the most successful player in VCT history, with only 2 losses across 3 editions of VCT tournaments.
  • Irfan also gathered his points in VCT 4 in most varied options, as he won by checkmate (Bikash, Maddy), from resignation (Sandy, Sayak), due to timeout (Shibu) and drawn by agreement (Sudipta)
  • However Irfan has still not become champion in any VCT editions so far. Not to worry, we will  conduct tournaments with individual champion as well, in between have Clash of Clans.
Next most successful players of VCT overall, are -
  • Sandy (buhu_s) - who lost 3 matches overall, in 3 editions of VCT and was also the Champion of VCT 2.
  • Sudipta (sudiptadebnath2020) - who lost 3 matches and drew one, and was also the Champion of VCT 3. But Sudipta played only in 2 editions of VCT so far.

So we can already anticipate some exciting encounters in the next individual tournament!

For now, that's all folks! Keep practicing as VCT 5 may well be around the corner!
