Ever wondered how did the Clan Names come? Well they were voted between the 4 clan leads! Clan Forkie was later renamed to Clan Fork to keep it a chess term.  And did the Clan Leads get their desired Clan Names? No, it was also done through random selection! Thanks to Atrayee for selecting the paper chits to allocate the Clan Names to the Clan Leaders. VCT 4 Auction was publicly held, and the ceremony was such skillfully conducted by Anustup, that he has now rightfully earned the VCT Auctioneer role for the future VCT editions. You can find more details on the VCT 4 Auction blog.  As 'morning shows the day', the Curtain Raiser match of VCT 4 hinted that the tournament is going to be a super successful one! Arkadip defeated VCT 3 runners up Avik even after losing his Queen! There were 3 Brilliant moves by Avik (Top Right), Shouvik (Bottom Left) and Bikash (Top Left) in Gameweek 1 as given below. VCT 4 Trivia

Although this was the 4th Edition of VCT, there has been a Magic with the number ' 3 ' throughout the tournament! Let us first see the final Clan scores of VCT 4 after the completion of all 6 Gameweeks. (henceforth Gameweek will be mentioned as 'GW' in this blog) As you can see, the most prominent figure in the final score is 3 !  The only other digit on the scoreboard is 9, which is = 3 * 3 ! To decide the Champion Clan, there were 3 Tie Breaker matches, played between 3 players from each Clan belonging to 3 Tiers each!  The final Champion - Clan Zugzwang is the only team with 3 draw matches. Rest of the 3 clans had once draw match each. Bored? We have not started yet! Let us see some more magic of  ' 3 ' in VCT 4! The magical influence of ' 3 ' in VCT 4 ! First of all, a big thanks to you all for your support and sharing your opinion on VCT 4. This time we got the opinion from all 24 players, and well within the stipulated timeline, and that shows the superb enthusiasm among you all. Kudos! I hope we could provide utmost entertainment in this new format of VCT and also helped you grow more interest in the game of chess and enhance your skillsets. VCT 4 Auction

Auction for VCT 4 happened online on 20th of March 2021. Players considered for Auction :  Based on chess.com ratings, performances in past VCT Editions, and current form, 20 players were categorized in 3 lists with different base points for Auction.  4 Clans formed with 4 Clan Leaders - Avik, Jongs, Matcho and Maddy.  Each Clan leader had 150 points at start and could bid for : 2 players from List 3 2 players from List 2 1 player from List 1  Auction was conducted by Anustup. Auction results : Clan Structure : Clans were allocated A, B, C, D slots in Auction for the match schedules Final  rated Clan structure were submitted to Neha, and available in the VCT 4 Scores blog.

VCT 4 - Rules and Prizes

VCT 4 – Rules and Regulations   All games to be played in the tournament will be 15| 10 Rapid rated games on chess.com. Choice of White or Black pieces for the players is determined upfront for every match in VCT 4. This is to ensure that every player can play same number of matches (3 each) in both the colors. At the start of the match if the players are allocated differently to what is in schedule, the match needs to be abandoned and a fresh match request needs to be sent. There will be no change in a player's chess.com rating if a match is abandoned.  Seeding of players is done as a part of the registration process for the VCT 4 Auction. Chess.com ratings of the players in the mentioned time period is considered for seeding  :  14/03/2021  -  17/03/2021. 4 Clans of 6 players each will be formed for VCT 4 in the Auction.  Post Auction, the Clan Leaders will submit the final Clan details with the players of their respective Clans ranked from 1 - 6...
